GES Group are proud to announce they are the winners of the Green Fleet of the Year award at the Business Eye Fleet Industry Awards 2015.
The prestigious awards were held at Titanic Belfast, and featured Fleet Operators, Fleet Suppliers and Car Manufacturers. The Green Fleet of the Year award recognises a company that has placed environmental concerns high on the agenda, including cutting CO2 emissions and improving fuel efficiency, to enable fleets to meet social corporate responsibilities.
GES were accredited to ISO 14001 in 2013, and in-line with our continuous improvement culture, seek to manage and improve our environmental performance. We invested in the latest TomTom Telematics technologies to monitor fuel consumption, and advise drivers on safer, more efficient, driving methods and routes. Monitoring Key Performance Indicators through the system, such as excessive idling, speeding, harsh breaking and MPG, meant we were taking a ground-up and transparent approach to fleet management. The result of our efforts in promoting safer and more efficient driving, has lead to a 13% saving in fuel economy, and an environmentally responsible culture.

When your plant or equipment requires repair, how do you remove it from site and transport it to the Workshop?
When you have an outage, or if you are carrying out planned maintenance, the removal and transportation of plant and equipment can be a drain on resources -financially and in terms of manpower and administration. In today's economic climate, many of our customers are choosing to use the expertise and manpower of GES Group in a Site Services role.
Grants Electrical Services go the extra mile for our customers, working in teams of various sizes to deliver an efficient, competitive and effective solution to machine maintenance issues. We attend sites all over the UK and Ireland, assisting our customers with the task of removing, transporting, refurbishing and re-installing a wide variety of plant and equipment.
We also specialise in predictive maintenance methods and can deliver a bespoke service to a range of industries, enabling potential problems to be identified in advance of any work being carried out. This means less cost and perhaps more importantly, less downtime to production, as only specific machines are targeted for refurbishment.
Our Site Service offering covers not just HV/LV Electric Motors, but also transformers and switchgear, which are often overlooked when refurbishing plant. Refurbishment work is carried out in our own purpose-built workshops, which are fully equipped to handle all types of electrical and mechanical plant.
A typical Site Service could consist of:

GES Group was appointed to provide the design, installation and commission of a turn-key PV site containing a Medium and High Voltage Grid Connection as part of a Solar Photo-Voltaic Development Project in the UK.
Following a Project Study and Feasibility Assessment, we outlined the key programme of works including deliverable milestones, estimated duration of tasks and allowances for any unanticipated issues, identifying a specific Schedule of Works and including a detailed Cost Schedule, before commencing the installation.
Some key components of the Project included:
We were responsible for all civil works associated with establishing the site of the LV/MV transformer substation enclosure, including the civil design of the foundations, and all works were in specification to WPD and compliant with DNO Grid Code for site location. Earthing facilities were also provided by GES to the premises; this was to ensure the installation complied with the requirements for TNS.
Protection settings were designed and applied by GES to function satisfactorily at all times, in accordance with the performance level declared by the manufacturer, and in the presence of electromagnetic phenomena appropriate to industrial environments (in accordance with G59/2 and ETR113). We also provided Neutral Voltage Displacement (NVD) protection, which included the interconnecting cable between the DNO 5 limb VT within the substation, and the G59 protection cube.
Switchgear and control systems were supplied and installed, including a SCADA system with cost-effective remote telemetry operation that enables web-based portal access and monitoring. GES provided full training in the use of the system to the client. We delivered a detailed MV grid connection solution, including full system design and schematic drawings, and we completed the ENA application form for DNO Fault Current grid study on behalf of the client.
This Project was delivered in-line with our commitments to Health and Safety, Quality and the Environment through our ISO 14001, 9001 and 18001 systems, with full RAMS made available to the client.
