Lorraine Farrell, Customer Relations Executive, and Rodney Paul, GES Automation Manager, attend a cross-border Meet the Buyer event in Belfast.
The Connecting for Growth programme hosted by the NI Chamber of Commerce brings together businesses with procurement teams from large buying organisations, and is open to all that have an interest in developing their opportunities, including cross-border access.
GES Group have invested significant resources over the past two years to prepare the company for growth and diversification, and this Meet the Buyer event was the first of many initiatives we will be participating in over the coming year to meet our growth objectives.
2015 will be an exciting year for the company!
GES Group believe in offering a full Energy Solution package to our customers, and that includes tracking energy usage on-site.
Two-thirds of industrial energy is consumed by electric motors. A typical electric motor costing a few hundred pounds will consume many tens of thousands of pounds in energy during its lifetime. To prevent wasting energy, the first task is to measure consumption. Results from this will allow informed decisions to be made as to where the best savings can be made and how. By means of a dedicated energy audit, GES Group have the specialised test equipment and know-how to help you save hard cash!
We've recently invested in eTracker Technology, which monitors the incoming power supply to show the pattern of demand over an hour, day, week or month. Our system can be used to measure circuits, or specific plant and equipment, without the need to have a fixed sub-metering solution.
If you would like to find out more, get in touch and an energy survey can be arranged at your convenience.

GES like to support the business community, social community and charitable organisations, both locally and further afield. Tom Grant, CEO, spotted the fundraising opportunity the #icebucketchallenge presented!
If employees offered a donation, they were entered into a draw to be selected as the (lucky) ones to throw the water around both our company CEO and Customer Relations Executive. In one week we managed to raise £200 for charity and gave these guys a good soaking in the process -

GES Group are proud to announce their Irish News Awards 2014 Finalist status!
GES Group were successful in achieving Finalist status at the Irish News Awards 2014, in the Best Place to Work, Medium Sized Business category. This is quite an achievement for the NI company who began entering local business awards in 2012 and decided 2014 was the year to enter the regional and prestigious Irish News Awards Workplace and Employment Awards.
David Moore, GES Managing Director, said, "GES Group have always maintained excellent standards and employed excellent people. In the 40-plus years we have been in operation, we have only recently started entering local and regional business awards to recognise the successes of our business, and the successes of our people. The company has gone through considerable investment and development in the past few years, and our Finalist status this evening is a sign of things to come."
The tempestuous weather bashing Scotland from the east wasn't enough to stop GES Group Workshop Manager, Ronnie Moore, from paying a visit to AEMT!
On the 14th May, Ronnie, along with other members from the
Business Talk: How To Master Your Motivation
Bryan Leslie warmed the attendees up with an energetic presentation on how to remain motivated throughout the day (tips that are sure to come in handy for us all!). Attendees commented on his enthusiasm and warmth, with the presentation focusing on the power of belief and positive thinking. He had no trouble in convincing Paul Cockell, Engineering Carbon Products, that he could smash a plank of wood in half with his bare hands!
Technical Talk: The Unusual is Normal
Len Jones successfully kept up the pace with a very interesting but more down-to-earth presentation on the extraordinary lengths Parsons Peebles are going to in the design and manufacture of bespoke HV machines. Similar to GES Group, Parsons Peebles take on complex jobs re-engineering existing assets to upgrade their performance, which requires considerable investment and R&D.
Workshop Tour: Parsons Peebles
After a fill of lunch provided by the Dakota Hotel, the group journeyed over the Forth Bridge for the highlight of the day - a tour of the Parsons Peebles facility. Len Jones took on the role of host and tour guide, showing off the facilities with great pride.
To view the presentations that were used on the day log-in to the Members Area of the AEMT website.

GES Group are an organisation with many cycling enthusiasts, so you can imagine the excitement in the office when the Giro came to town!
Over the course of the week leading up to the Giro d'Italia, and the weekend of the event itself, GES Group celebrated by painting a large motor bright pink and displaying it on the Ballymoney Line, turning our website and logo pink and encouraging our employees to participate in the celebrations. They certainly dressed to impress and we even made an appearance on the BBC and UTV news! BBC's "Giro Pink Man" (top left) is none other than our Services Manager, Richard Paul! We've collected a selection of photos of our celebrations and compiled them into a gallery for your viewing pleasure.
