Row, Row, Row Your Boat

  • 2nd September 2013

GES Group apprentice, Michael Curtis, participated in this years All Ireland Rowing Championship, held in Carnlough on Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th August 2013.

Michael’s team previously won the Intermediate Men’s title in 2012 and moved up a class to the Junior Men’s in 2013. They qualified in first place for the heat on Saturday, which meant a good lane draw for the final on Sunday. Weather conditions were perfect all weekend, during one of the warmest weekends of the year. Michael said, “During the race the team went into the second turn half-a-length up in first place and then had a terrible turn, coming out half-a-length behind in second. Despite a late charge for the line we were pipped to the post, achieving Silver. Next year we plan to contend for the Senior Men’s title, with the Championships being held in Waterville, Co. Kerry.” Congratulations to Michael and his team for their Silver achievement from all at GES Group!
